Mount Goliath Natural Area sits at 11,540 feet (3,517 meters)

The Mount Goliath Research Natural Area contains 160 acres (65 ha) set aside for the protection, study, interpretation and enjoyment of the Rocky Mountain Bristlecone Pine (Pinus aristata). Stop at the natural area and visit the Dos Chappell Nature Center with exhibits that interpret the adaptations of plants and animals living in sub-alpine and alpine environments. Outside the nature center is a rock garden where you will find Bristlecone Pine trees 900 to 1500 years old still living and growing. The nature center is open daily and staffed by interpretive forest rangers and Forest Service volunteers available to provide information, programs and answer questions.
